Keeping up a long distance relationship has always been difficult, even though in recent years mobile phones, instant messaging and internet telecommunication services with video such as Skype and others have made it a little easier. Perhaps things are about to change as NTT DoCoMo Inc., Japan’s biggest mobile phone service provider, believes it can take things to a new level by helping long-distance couples share non-verbal communication through their phones.
Let Your Sweetheart Feel Your Beating Heart
Recently, at CEATEC (the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies), held at Chiba, Japan, DoCoMo demonstrated a white plastic heart shaped device called the Taion Heart, which fits in the palm of your hand and when squeezed registers your pulse and the pressure with which you are squeezing the device. These readings are sent by Bluetooth to an application on your mobile phone and then relayed to your sweetheart’s phone, which in turn beams them to their own Taion Heart.
