Swiss service provider Kooaba was one of the first companies to offer multi-platform image recognition for the iPhone and Android mobile phones. Using the mobile app (link to iTunes App Store) the user snaps a photo of, for example, a DVD cover. The app retrieves related data from the service's online database for a match and displays that information onscreen, including artwork.
Membership on kooaba.com syncs with data from their phone, and the member can view and organize titles using a GUI displayed as a bookshelf. Titles are organized by media type (i.e. movies, music, books and games) and can be rated or purchased, with, of course, links to share on Facebook, Digg or Twitter, as well as with other library users.
